One of my sweet little nephews turns 2 today. We are so excited to be here in Colorado visiting him while he celebrates I can’t believe how fast time has gone– feels like we were just here after he was born

This is my last post of 2012. It has been such a wonderful year for my business and I thank all of you for being supporters of me. I can’t wait to see what 2013 will bring and continue to provide you beautiful portraits to enjoy

Today my session *almost* got rescheduled for rain. Luckily it didn’t fully start until we were almost done with the session. After I picked up my daughter and noticed it was really starting to rain, I thought I would finally attempt my rain portraits of her I have been wanting this year I think they came SUPER cute and I am so happy to show them off

Yes…. we do. And that’s what I am doing. What is it about being a self employed woman that I have guilt about letting me just be me– a mom, wife, daughter, sister, auntie etc and not worry about putting everyone else first? Anyway, I am beyond beyond beyond excited to have this post go live when I am away from the studio to be with my family and also celebrate my 30th birthday!

I will be returning all calls/emails/snail mail etc. September 24th!

I am having a nap for all the overtired moms, an adult drink for the moms who need to get out, and lots of food for those moms who are too tired to give themselves food after feeding their kids.

Since I got my mark 3, I have been dabbing my foot into experimenting with fusion in my slideshows. NO, I do not plan to become a videographer, but I love the idea of mixing some live with the stills.

I had to photograph my Lilly today and thought I would experiment Just pure cuteness my baby girl is.

Any of you who know me, know how much I love being an Auntie (they call me TeeTee) and I couldn’t be more proud of my niece. She is on a traveling softball team and is an amazing catcher. Her team (the Colorado Majestix) are here right now for a tournament and I went to one of the games today and took a few quick shots during their game.

I still can’t believe my girl is 14 now and so amazing in her sport. I love her so much

Just had to brag for a second. She’s kinda awesome.

Changes to facebook– not seeing my posts anymore?

Recently facebook made some changes that really affected a lot of us small businesses. In a chance to get more money (maybe that highly anticipated stock option??) they have decided that our posts will not be visible in everyones feeds who are fans unless we pay $5 per post. Oh that’s not all. For my size fan page, having over 930 members, my posts now show in only about 200 people’s feeds. Before this, it was closer to about 700 people. But if I pay $5 it will reach about 800 people. It’s kinda sad.

Being that I refuse to pay for posts, I will be utilizing the newsletter more (don’t worry– still 1-2x month max) and posting here more often. I really enjoy the facebook option for sharing posts and everything, but it’s another unnecessary fee (in my opinion.)

On another note, make sure for those pages (like mine and others you are a fan of) that you go to “like” and then select “show in newsfeed. A lot of pages now aren’t showing in your feed because of that. And if you don’t hit “like” or comment on posts then facebook thinks it shouldn’t show in your feed… so make sure to stay up on your pages you like and interact with them.

Here’s an example of how to make sure they show in your feed.

So, if you haven’t been seeing my posts on facebook, this could be why. Or you haven’t liked it yet

We now have a retail location again! – La Mesa Photographer

I can *finally* let the cat out of the bag…I am back to having a physical retail location (still in La Mesa) to do sessions at! I am only there by appointment for sessions, and I am still continuing my in-home ordering sessions and consults.

You now have the option for in-studio single subject sessions (babies, headshots,smash the cake etc), in-studio portraits for small families & boudoir/glamour, and as always on-location portraits. Pricing for sessions has shifted a little, so make sure to contact me to get the new 411

For the next few weeks, I will be making the space beautiful– new flooring and paint… then we are good to go! Are you as excited as ME?!

I can’t WAIT to have you all see it!

Personal: Our Halloween Party details

Oh I know it’s WAY past Halloween, but I haven’t had a chance to get our Halloween pictures up of the details from our party for our playgroup we hosted. I have blogged before, but I am incredibly addicted to pinterest. If you don’t know what it is, read my post. If you want an account (it’s free, but you have to have someone email you a link to sign up) just email me directly and I will send you one.

So anyway, on pinterest, I had created a board of Halloween ideas. Wow. I had major crafting ideas but during my busiest time of year, didn’t know how on earth I would pull it all off. SO, I picked a few fun things and went with it.

Here is the flooring I did. I bought white electrical tape (note to self– buy in BULK next year!) to do a “spider web” on my foyer floor. Wasn’t it cute??

Then I kinda ran with all the other ideas. I bought organic natural apple juice boxes at Trader joes and wrapped them in electrical tape and glued on googlie eyes (once again… buy in bulk!!). I wrapped a mini pumpkin in cheesecloth dipped in liquid starch. I wrapped silverware with handmade spiders. Instructions here: Spider wraps.

I also made pumpkin cupcakes since I am a nut about nutrition I felt a *little* better making them. I bought vanilla cake mix at trader joes, and mixed in a can of pumpkin & pumpkin pie spice. The recipe here: Cupcakes. Mine def. aren’t as pretty as those but they were super yummy and I was ok letting Lilly eat one (ok, half of one )

OH and you notice the crepe paper garland? Ya. Um… *the* cutest crafting idea you will find, however it took FOREVER to make. Here is how you can make them (more info will be on the post I will do soon for Lilly’s birthday party with all my crafts)…Crepe Paper streamers

Mini session of Colty – Santa Cruz Child Photographer

Whenever we head up to Santa Cruz to visit my in-laws, I always have to do a quick session of one of my nephews. Seriously how cute is he??! I also was renting the 85 1.2 and wanted to see if I could chase around a busy toddler (since that’s most of my business) to see if it was worth investing in. Ya, it was very very difficult on a fast moving child as it focus’s very slow. But anyway, I still had fun getting some quick portraits of him being adorable. Whatcha think?
